Our Story:
The Parachute Factory was launched by a group of artists from the Lexington Guild of Printmakers. The space was born of a need for a professional exhibition space that was accessible to both artists and community members alike. When presented with a potentially affordable space in the end of an old parachute factory warehouse, we seized the opportunity. Three weeks and over 100 man hours later, The Parachute Factory opened its doors to the public with our first exhibition.
Within days of opening, we had requests coming in to use the space by visual artists, musicians, theatre performers, and other community volunteer groups. This compelling response confirmed that the Northside would truly benefit from the existence of a place like ours. In addition to its ability to accommodate all branches of the arts, The Parachute Factory is volunteer-run and community-driven; all of our events are free and open to the public. However, this mission of accessibility along with further improvement of the space requires funding.
Donations will go to the renovation and operation of the space, including gallery lighting, drywall, heating / air, and sound equipment. For a detailed report of our anticipated expenses or to donate, please contact Stevie Morrison at [email protected].
